Error Fix Review

This review takes a look at the latest version of the Error Fix registry cleaner and repair tool to see why it got a 5 out of 5 rating from Tucows and establish if it is just another addition in the already long line of registry tools.

Usability

As with all registry repair tools, Error Fix has an intuitive and simple interface that guides the user through the various cleaning and repair tasks. In order to target as many types of users as possible the tools 1-click maintenance option is a nice touch as it can do several generic registry/system cleaning tasks in just one scan.

Advanced users can drill down further into specific features for PC repairs and maintenance (backups, optimization, startup program management) to make more customized changes and scans.

Support and Services

Customer support is via a web based contact form and online chat facility. There is no apparent phone support available.

Software upgrades are provided for 12 months following a license purchase.

Value Added Features

The registry cleaning and repair is the main feature for any of these tools and it does a solid job of cleaning up the registry. After cleaning my registry I tried running other product scans and no additional fields/faults were found.

The automated registry backup is something that all these types of tools should have by default.

Disadvantages

The addition of the Microsoft updates feature seems a little out of place given that the majority of users would already run scheduled update checks for themselves. Upgrades are provided free for only one year which is out of place with similar products who provide upgrades for longer periods.

In Conclusion

Error Fix is a reliable and efficient registry repair tool and it is apparent to see why Tucows liked it so much. Thankfully, registry problems don’t occur on a daily basis so this tools real benefit is in optimizing registry settings, clearing down temporary files and the automatic back up facility.
