Samsung NC20 with ULV processor

Samsung plays an exclusive role in field of consumer electronics and laptops. Samsung has recenetly rereleased a mini laptop computer with VIA Nano platform to compete with Intel Atom platform laptops.

Design and features
NC20 shines in clean pearlescent white color. Around the edge there is a thin border of chrome. The screen size is slightly bigger than the usual mini laptops. The glassy surface of the screen provides an excellent display quality. The full sized keyboard is very comfortable to use. It has Synaptics touchpad that is decent in size measuring 2.75” x 1.6”.

Compared to other devices such as Lenovo ThinkPad, the touchpad is larger. The metal finish over the touch pad and the keyboard give wonderful experience of gliding over them. VIA Nano processor efficiently runs web browsing, document processing and standard definition video tasks. Samsung has provided a single panel at the bottom to access the hard drive and the memory slot.

Specifications
The NC20 laptop mini consists VIA Nano ULV U2250 processor clocked at 1.30 GHz. It has a 1 GB DDR2 SDRAM that can be extended up to 2 GB. It has 12.1” WXGA wide screen glossy display in 1280 x 800 display resolution. It has 160 GB Hard Disk with SATA interface. It is built with VIA Chrome9 HC3 that supports high-end graphics. It has 3-in-1 card reader and Bluetooth connectivity. It has a 6-cell Li-ion Battery managing the device nearly 6 hrs. It has three USB ports one on the left and two on the right, 3-in-1 multi-card readers on the front side audio jacks, VGA and LAN on the left side.

The Good
NC20 has a wide keyboard and the keys are very soft to use. The bigger size keys help users to type fast. The screen has higher resolution and provides clear and sharp display.

The Bad
The processor struggles to run fast enough to process the HD videos. The Audio performance is not up to the level as the speakers which are on the bottom are small. The white colored device might look dirty when used without much care. The screen backlight is not bright enough to allow outdoor usage.
