LED TVs are the next in line of new LCD TVs. There are lots of LED TV reviews out there but it can sometimes be confusing with so many ‘advantages and ‘disadvantages’. For an average consumer with limited knowledge about television, it’s hard to know what is what.

LED TVs are not a separate entity from LCD TVs but they are an improvement on them. LEDs are incorporated into the lighting of the LCD display, they replace the fluorescent tubing behind the screen that used to be used. The advantage of using LEDs is that they are able to produce a brighter image and use much less energy than the tubing.

Several manufacturers now manufacture these types of TVs and they are seen as a vast improvement features such as the color and contrast are vastly improved. One feature to look for that will distinguish between the better quality TVs is the power consumption of the LEDs. LEDs can be made using various materials and as such there is a large scope for difference, one way to find out the quality of the LED is to look at the power consumption of it, the lower the power the better the quality.

Currently there are two main types of LED placement for the lighting of the LCD display these are edge lighting and an array. Edge lighting places the LEDs around the side of the screen and disperse the light over the screen using an optical sheet. The array method places the LEDs in rows and lines behind it.

The quality of the LEDs used can also be seen in the time it takes for them to respond to color change this time is measured by the manufacturer and displayed as the response time, this is usually given in ‘ms’. The LEDs are timed to see how long it takes them to turn from black to white to black again.

LEDs as mentioned are much better at displaying dark scenes with not much light. They have a greater ability to display closer matched dark colors and as such the picture is much easier to view than with normal LCD TVs. An example of LED TV that’s capable of producing excellent image quality is the UNB8500 series from Samsung. If you wish to know more about it, make sure you check out the Samsung UN46B8500 review.

There are many good HDTV sets available this summer. As years go by manufacturers are creating more reliable and useful products. Of course, there are always some exceptions but most of the time this is true at least when we talk about the top brands.

The Sony KDL 32EX703 32” LCD HDTV With Edge LED is a great set that offers quite a bang for the buck. It has a decent sized screen that is ideal for mostly any room and is perfect for wall mounting. The cabinet of this set is very slim so the overall room space volume needed is reduced to a minimum. The picture that this set produces is of very good quality for its price. It is very efficient at displaying details and colors as you would expect from a television of the Bravia series. It has a few interesting features included that are aimed at getting a better picture like Live Color and GigaContrast.

GigaContrast improves image quality by improving the contrast of the picture while Live Color is aimed at color adjusting. These features do their job remarkably. In fact, they are what really make this set what it is. Live Color helps a lot since it allows you to chose from a variety of settings with the touch of a button.

If you are worried about the environment or you are trying to save energy in your home this set will be perfect for you simply because it has energy saving features that are very efficient. It even has a motion detecting sensors that senses when there is no movement in front of the screen for quite a long period of time and turns the set off . This feature is very good for those that have a tendency to fall asleep while watching television. In conclusion the Sony KDL 32EX703 is a great television set if you are looking to buy a cheap HDTV. The price is right and the features that are included are great.
