The recession has resulted in a great many Windows XP users holding onto the machines rather than make costly upgrades. This Reimage review shows how home PC repairs and a regular schedule of maintenance activities can go a long way to keeping XP healthy.

Many XP computers are now several years old meaning dozens of application installation/changes/upgrades have occurred. This all has a tendency of introducing faults. What is required to maintain a healthy PC is to (a) keep up with maintenance activities to provide the baseline of security and stability and (b) make effective home PC repairs whether manually or using automated online PC repair tools like Reimage.

A maintenance schedule should consist of the following key activities:
-Â Â Â Run Windows Update services, especially for the critical and security updates.
-   Run anti-virus scans often and keep the software’s virus definitions current.
-Â Â Â Always have at least 10% disk space. Remove unused applications via the control panel to free up space.
-Â Â Â Back up all personal data and the registry file regularly.
-Â Â Â Run a disk-defragmenter tool once a month (more often if you use applications that are creating a lot of large files).

With this baseline the XP system is in a more resilient state for when issues occur to performance/virus damage/blue screens exceptions/registry damage. In this case, if your own attempts at repairs fail then there is always automated repair software like Reimage to fall back on.

The Reimage review and repair process runs via your browser to scan for faults (registry & file system) then make repairs using a knowledge base of healthy system configurations and an inventory of replacement XP related files (over 25 million and counting). The process takes under 30 minutes to complete and has the positive side effect of optimizing XP PCs (through optimum registry key settings and improving device drivers that are out of date).

Microsoft will someday decide to start phasing out their XP support. Until that point it should still be possible, through a schedule to maintenance tasks and home repairs using tools like the Reimage review and repair application, to have XP computers that are stable, secure and fast.

DLGuard has been in existence for a number of years providing an economical way for web-masters to securely sell digital products (ebooks, software, etc) from their own web server. This DLGuard review covers the three years that I have been using the product, its main features and possible setbacks.

The product is a set of PHP scripts that cover most of the functionality needed to make sales on the net. This includes providing forms to manage your inventory of products, a shopping basket and checkout process that interfaces with payment processors (Paypal, Clickbank, etc.). All the pages, links and buttons are customizable so the web pages can be edited to match your existing website.

The installation took 30 minutes to load up the scripts (it is all documented in 10 simple steps). Setting up your inventory of products is the time consuming part. I was originally writing ebooks to sell on-line so setting up a few PDF files to sell wasn’t too difficult.

Straight out of the box DLGuard supports selling single products, multiple products (which requires a shopping cart) and membership sales. It handles contacting the payment processors and then sending out the confirmation email to customers with a download link to the digital product. It targets download-able products but it could just as well work for physical products that you’d post out to customers.

Security is the key selling point with DLGuard as the download link sent to customers can be time limited and a maximum number of download attempts set. This stops previous issues with unsecured download links that could be shared & used by more than just the purchaser to download the product.

Depending on your system setup, one setback could be the 2 domain license limit which restricts the products installation to two servers. If you wish to use it on more than 2 servers then you’ll need to purchase extra copies. Alternately, you could set up one main server that handles the checkout process and have the ‘buy now’ buttons on your sites all point to this one sales server.

In summary, this is an easy to use, function rich shopping cart and sales management tool that specializes in selling digital downloads. It automates then entire sales process leaving you free to work on other things.
